History in the making

  • 2000

Vito’s children, Giovanni and Alessia Zucchi, joined the company and embarked on a process of change in order to compete on an increasingly global market. The creation of the on-site railway yard to receive the raw material increased the efficiency and sustainability of the supply chain, with a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.

  • 2010

Oleificio Zucchi celebrated 200 years in business. The corporate principle of rotating the CEO every five years was introduced.

  • 2011

The “New Zucchi brand project” involved an international branding study and market research on five continents. This would lay the groundwork for the creation of the “Consigliati da Legambiente” range (“Recommended by Italian environmentalist association Legambiente”), based on traceability, on promoting nutritional characteristics, and on environmental issues.

  • 2012-2016

Giovanni Zucchi became CEO and introduced a divisional organization, with the creation of a new Export area. He was the first to turn the narrative to the Art of Blending, or in other words the ability to combine olive oils made from different cultivars and origins to obtain higher quality products. This involved a highly innovative project and the creation of a multimedia itinerary at the company to tell the story of this Art. This new approach would pave the way to the creation, with the other players in the Italian EVO supply chain and CSQA, of a specification with a unique breadth of analysis, the first at the international level in the oil industry (DTP 125), based on the principles of Environmental, Nutritional, Economic and Social Sustainability.

  • 2017-2021

Alessia Zucchi became CEO. She promoted the Supply Chain 4.0 project in the marketplace and on TV, with the application of voluntary specification DTP 125 for Sustainability Certification of the Extra Virgin Olive Oil supply chain. Her mandate focuses on the development of the Zucchi Brand, on expanding the olive oil segment, and on internationalisation and embraces a sharp focus on information technologies across the company’s operations. The company works to promote a “new culture of oil”, based on the principles of sustainability, traceability and creativity, drawing on the unique breadth of its range. In 2020, the first foreign branch opened in the USA: Zucchi 1810 Inc.
